Workshop on National Green Corps (NGC) 2010 and selection of the best NGC schools at District and State level by KSCSTE
National Green Corps (NGC), popularly known as ‘A Programme of Eco-clubs’, is an Environment Education Programme initiated nation-wide by the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF), Govt. Of India in the year 2001-2002. NGC is a unique Programme targeted on School students of the country. Kerala, the Gods own Country with enough aesthetic values and high degree Biodiversity carried out the NGC activities in all the 14 districts. Three thousand four hundred and sixty (3460) schools in the state are covered under this Programme in the State during 2009-10. The active support of the District Implementation and Monitoring Committee (DIMC) helped in implementing the NGC Programme effectively.
In order to promote the activities of the NGC-ecoclubs, Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment (KSCSTE) has decided to give awards to the best performing ecoclubs at District and State level. The district implementation and monitoring committee (DIMC) chaired by the district collector short listed three NGC schools from each district for selecting the best NGC school at District and State level. The best schools at district and State level will be selected in a workshop held on 5th & 6th August 2010 at Centre for Earth Science (CESS) auditorium, Akkulam, Thiruvananthapuram.
