Workshop on Innovations in the Water Sector

The workshop on Innovations in the Water Sector will be held at the Pune, India, 20-23 January 2009. The workshop will deliberate the sustained efforts of stakeholders in the water sector and highlight the importance of replacing the prevailing demand or supply augmentation approach with a management-oriented outlook. Topics include in the workshop are: (a) Conflicts over demand and supply in the water sector (b) Process/institutional/technological innovations that serve as instruments to bring efficiency, equity and sustainability in the water sector (c) Case studies to demonstrate the wider impacts of innovation on the domestic, agricultural and industrial water sectors. Participants will come from research institutes, Indian government ministries, academia, NGOs and the F-IAELP (Fulbright Indo-American Environmental Leadership Program) itself.
