National Seminar on Rural Energy Management: Strategies and Policy Options

The Seminar will be held at the Gandhigram, Dindigul, Tamilnadu, India, 30 to 31 January 2009. It is organized by Department of Economics, Gandhigram Rural University, Dindigul District. Tamilnadu. The objectives of the seminar are : • To sensitize the participants about the seriousness of energy issues in general, rural energy issues in particular; • To design sustainable and appropriate rural energy mix for evolving the integrated rural energy plan; • To find out different energy sources and their relevance in energy end-use economic sectors like agriculture, industry, household, transport, commercial, social and service sectors; and • To motivate the young students and budding researchers to undertake research on rural energy issues, problems, and strategies. The Key themes are: Households Sector's Energy Consumption, Agriculture sector, Industrial sector, Transport sector, Commercial and Service sector, Alternative Energy.
